a Drumming Workshop
with Sahar Pinkham
Date: Four Mondays, September 10 to October 1
Time: 7 pm to 9 pm
Center for Spiritual Living Santa Rosa
2075 Occidental Road
Each class starts with a 3-5 minute guided meditation based on the theme of the class. Some of the class themes are: Drumming as a Tool for Emotional Release, The Medicine of Drumming Rhythms, Improvisation: The Art of Soloing, and Finding Your Own Rhythm.
When we start drumming, we start slow, allowing us to relax deeply. As the tempo picks up, the fun begins. I guide my class through rhythm games designed to create a variety of opportunities for engagement and learning. I often include a little history of the rhythms along with inspiring quotes from inspired people.
Sahar began his study in 1979, in Swami Muktananda's Oshram. The drumming evoked such passion in him that he continued at the Ali Akbar Khen College in Marin. His studies have taken him to the feet of some of the world's most famous percussionists. He has taught rhythm and led drum circles for the past 24 years, has facilitated thousands of drum circles, and has taught the series "The Sacred Art of Drumming" for the past 22 years. This includes having led 5 workshop drum circles and 7 drum series at CSLSR.
You may contact Sahar at (707) 331-5460 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions about a drum to use for the workshop.
Registrations for workshops are not mailed out. They will be held for pickup at the door the day of the class. During checkout please choose "Will Pick Up" as your Delivery Time choice.
